Meet the Wasteaters: Seen throughout the Angola

A Scavenger on Wheels

The Wasteater is a master of maneuverability. While searching for scraps, it might seem to be defying physics, moving backward. In reality, its powerful cab acts like a tow truck, pulling its body and head along. Once a target is identified (likely overflowing waste bins), the cab reverses thrust, propelling the vehicle slowly forward for a satisfying meal.

When and Where to Find These Elusive Trucks

These fascinating vehicles can be glimpsed year-round, but they tend to be shy and avoid peak hours with heavy traffic and people. Early mornings are your prime Wasteater spotting opportunity in cities and towns. That’s when they hit the streets before shops open, drawn by the smorgasbord of bins overflowing with delicious (to them) waste. After a hearty breakfast feast in the city, Wasteaters head for the countryside for a day of casual snacking. By nightfall, they return to their depot homes, reuniting with their waste-collecting brethren.
