The Wasteater is a master of maneuverability. While searching for scraps, it might seem to be defying physics, moving backward. In reality, its powerful cab acts like a tow truck, pulling its body and head along. With impressive strength, these machines lift bins (even hefty ones weighing 125kg!) and tilt them at a 135-degree angle. This acrobatics allows all the yummy garbage \u2013 a mix of plastic, paper, metal, glass, or even a smorgasbord of everything \u2013 to tumble into their giant, empty stomachs. These fascinating vehicles can be glimpsed year-round, but they tend to be shy and avoid peak hours with heavy traffic and people. Early mornings are your prime Wasteater spotting opportunity in cities and towns. That’s when they hit the streets before shops open, drawn by the smorgasbord of bins overflowing with delicious (to them) waste. After a hearty breakfast feast in the city, Wasteaters head for the countryside for a day of casual snacking.
