Powering Angola with Thueia<\/h2>\r\n

Extracting energy from waste is crucial for Angola’s energy security. In fact, it contributes roughly 3% of the country’s electricity needs. This process also aligns with the circular economy by reducing our reliance on exporting waste and allowing us to recover valuable metals and aggregates from the ashes for future recycling.But that’s not all! The heat generated by these facilities isn’t wasted either. Food Power<\/h3>\r\n
Ever thrown out scraps or yard trimmings? Anaerobic digestion takes food and green waste, breaks them down in sealed chambers, and creates biogas \u2013 like methane \u2013 that fuels electricity generation. This not only harnesses waste for energy, but also prevents methane, a harmful greenhouse gas, from escaping into the atmosphere.<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

Waste-to-Energy<\/h3>\r\n
Once all recyclable and reusable materials are removed, what’s left can be burned in controlled facilities to generate energy. This process, called incineration with Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), reduces the amount of waste going to landfills or needing export for treatment. Landfill Gas Capture<\/h3>\r\n
Even closed landfills hold a hidden resource: methane gas. This potent greenhouse gas is captured from these sites and sent to power grids for energy production.
