Landfill Waste Disposal
Need a responsible solution for waste that can’t be recovered? Our landfill sites provide a safe and secure disposal option.
The Last Stop for Waste
Landfills used to be the main way we got rid of trash. But with increased recycling and waste-to-energy programs, landfills are becoming less important. Now, they’re reserved for the leftovers – waste that can’t be recycled or turned into something useful.
Landfill Reality in Angola
Landfills shouldn’t be the final destination for recyclable or reusable waste. However, Angola needs them to safely dispose of complex, inactive waste. Here’s the catch: landfill capacity is shrinking. Studies by Thueia and Tolvik (2017) show even achieving government recycling targets won’t eliminate the need for landfills. We’ll still need around 21 million tonnes per year of capacity, and new landfill sites will be crucial for Angola within the next 3-5 years.

Giving Landfills a New Life
When landfills reach capacity, we don’t just close them. We transform them! Following strict planning and environmental permits, capped landfills are restored for various uses. These can be agricultural fields, havens for wildlife, vibrant woodlands, or even public parks. We ensure a smooth transition by monitoring the environment long-term and providing ongoing aftercare management.
Thueia Award
The Thueia Award is a remarkable environmental initiative. Established in 1997, it’s a partnership between Thueia Waste Services and the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT). Through landfill tax credit donations from Thueia, the Award grants have surpassed £180 million.
